Celebrations

Let everyone know that your STEM club is fantastic!

Both the club's leaders and its members should feel proud of their contribution to their STEM club. A celebration event enables those involved to show off their achievements to a wider audience.

Celebrations can be arranged on any scale - it's a case of "it's not what you do, it's the way that you do it"! Make the public recognition of achievements part of your STEM club's ethos. You'll be amazed at what an impact this can have on both the members and the leaders.

Here are some ideas for celebrating with your STEM club.

School-based celebration events

  • Take lots of photos and put together a display. Make sure it's in a public place, like school reception, so lots of people can see it.
  • Organise a school science fair - invite parents and other interested people to hear about what different groups have done. You could make it a competition with judges and prizes.
  • Get club members to make a presentation in a school assembly. Parents' evenings, PTA or govenors' meetings are other possible events where a presentation might be possible.

Celebrate by getting out and about

  • Bring together STEM clubs from other schools for an inter-school science fair or competition.
  • Organise a trip - some locations will put on special events for you, some will let you organise your own event on-site. Many destinations have risk assessments available for you to use when planning your trip.
  • Attend an event held by an external organisation, e.g. a wildlife watch, a Young Engineers regional club showcase, a CREST regional fair.

National celebration events

Some events allow your club members to exhibit on a national scale. Look at the events calendar for dates, or check the supplier & services database for ideas.
