Marble Challenge 2010

Marble Challenge 2010

As part of National Science and Engineering Week 2010 the science department undertook the marble challenge with their classes. Students were given 12 artstraws, a tray, roll of sellotape, scissors and 4 sheets of A4 paper plus 1 marble.
The task was to create a structure which would allow a marble to pass along/through it from a minimum height of 15cm to the table. The structures must be freestanding. The team who’s marble took the longest to touch the wood of the table won.
Any team who’s structure caused the marble to get stuck or required human interferance was disqualified.
A fantastically competitive activity which created a wide range of designs!

Winners: Adam Twiss, Daniel Coulter & Aaron Wynd (Yr10)
2nd: Cameron Tubman & Bridon Gilley (Yr 11)
3rd: Jordan Donaldson, Sam Todhunter, Daniel McCann & Taylor Gracey-Eilbeck (Yr 10)

Well done!
