STEM Rocket Challenge Autumn 2009

Session 1

• Intro to challenge with video example
• Divide into 5 groups of 4 themselves
• Each group has brainstorming session on design considerations
• 2 start work on launch pad, 2 start work on rocket

Session 2

• Complete launch pads and start testing pressure/volume of water – produce graphs of those variables against time spent in the air.
• Continue with design of rocket

Session 3

• Start testing rockets and work on any redesigning
• Start work on parachutes

Session 4

• Continue testing and refining

Session 5

• Continue testing and refining

Session 6

• Final adjustments and then competition for whose rocket can stay in the air longest.
