Science Studios and The University of Reading are delighted to host The Big Bang South East Regional Fair on the 5th July 2010. The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest and most exciting science and engineering competition for young people aged 11-18, The National Science and Engineering Competition.

So, spread the news about this event throughout your school! If you are not the person that organises CREST or Young Engineers schemes in your school, then find out who does and let them know about it! They can visit visit www.sciencestudios.co.uk/bigbang for all the latest information.

There’s still plenty of time to get going with your projects and we can even help you plan them. The event is FREE to take part in and the prizes are significant, including entry into the National Science and Engineering Competition 2011, prize money up to £200, plus other awards and certificates.

The benefits for students:

  • Exhibit their work in a vibrant and professional atmosphere.
  • Talk to the industry and academic experts who will be judging their projects
  • See other projects from across the region and to discuss these projects with their owners, comparing and exchanging ideas.
  • Take part in additional STEM activities that run throughout the day to entertain, engage and inspire.
  • Celebrate achievements at a glittering awards ceremony

The aim is to inspire students to pursue future STEM work and to install a sense of pride and purpose in their achievements so far. Winning projects will receive special recognition during the awards ceremony and will go onto the National Science and Engineering Competition. Certificates of attendance will be provided to all those taking part.
