The Grain Chain and Licence to Cook are delighted to provide this opportunity for innovative teachers to demonstrate their passion and flair for practical work based around flour in the classroom. If this sounds like you, read on!
Inspire! is open to teachers of students aged 11-14 across the UK.
Winning entries will focus on developing and running exciting and inspiring lessons based around flour. These classroom resources will be made available on grainchain.com and fabflour.co.uk to highlight excellence in teaching, share best practice and inspire others.
Entries must:
* promote practical food work with flour and other ingredients
* be aimed at 11-14 year olds
* link with the curriculum in your region of the UK
* support the Food Standards Agency’s food competences
* include student feedback.
Entries can include mixed media such as: paper based schemes of work, posters, visit reports, video podcasts, interactive whiteboard activities or PowerPoint presentations.
What are the prizes?
The overall winner of Inspire! will be awarded £1,500.
Five other finalists will each receive £300. All six finalists plus a guest each will be invited to an awards luncheon at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens on Friday 25th June 2010. Teacher supply will be covered for each finalist; in addition reasonable travel costs for each finalist plus one guest will also be covered.
All prize money to be spent on enhancing food work at school.
