25th August 2010
This year the project has changed dynamically by encouraging more students to be aware of inspirational engineering!!! We have done this by allowing the students to help build, restore and race old nitro cars which develops their skills & enthusiasm towards new designs for the Formula Schools Challenge. Funding has focussed on this delivery with materials & equipment provided by stem used to inject more pride in the club and it’s purpose.
Students are involved at all stages of building and development of the challenge car with satellite work groups working to very high standards we cannot achieve in large lessons. It is these students who show improved confidence and spread the news and benifit of our engineering….
F1 in Schoools 2010 -11
09th November 2010
We return for a 4th term in F1 in schools. We have two teams of 6 one called GSHS MKII and the other GS Velcoity. The teams are looking to work more closely on Aerodynamics and quality of presentation this year with the hope of reaching their 1st national finals
The teams are looking to raise money through enterprise projects within school initially. This will fund materials, merchandise and livery for each team. They also intend on seeking sponsorship from local industry to assist financially and through technical expertise.
The event takes place at Newcastle University on the 1st February 2011.
The use of Internet for research and marketing, prodesktop and 2d design for car development and wind tunnel software for analysis is merely a flavour of what F1 in school involves. The students are passionate about using the tools they have to best prepare for the competition.
